National Institute for Health Development (NIHD)

The National Institute for Health Development is a government established research and development body collecting, connecting and providing reliable national information from a multitude of sources, related to the health of the Estonian population. Activities include public health related research and health promotion as well as development and implementation of disease prevention programmes.

Key staff: Aljona Kurbatova, MSc in Sociology: Head of the Dept. of Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Drug Abuse in NIHD, coordinator of the HIV and TB prevention activities on the EU and national level. Kristel Kivimets, MSc, 14 years of extensive experience in prison systems, lead programme coordinator in international health programmes in prisons. Dr Piret Viiklepp: Coordinator of the National TB Programme and Head of TB Registry in NIHD with extensive experience in public health and healthcare field.
